Vincenzo SpedicatoVincenzo Spedicato was Born in Veglie, Province of Lecce, Italy on December 10, 1948 the second child of a peasant couple, Chiara Vettere and Giuseppe Vittorio Spedicato. After receiving his degree in electric engineering from the Polytechnic College of Bari Mr. Spedicato came to Brazil in 1968 under a program sponsored by the Italian military under which recent college graduates could trade their mandatory military service time for two years working in developing countries.
He then joined Ericsson in São Paulo where he helped develop telephone central offices around the country, especially in northern São Paulo state arriving in Orlandia in 1971 to carry out a project at the local phone company. In Orlandia he was struck by the idea of going independent and started a five-people company to make compression lugs. That was Intelli.

As time went by and against all odds, Vincenzo turned Intelli into a 650-employee major player in the electrical market, with sales in over 40 countries and a 77% market share in the local ground rods market. Today, in addition to the compression lugs, Intelli makes a wide variety of low and medium tension connectors, ground rods, grounding connectors and installation tools.
With an appettite for new markets Vincenzo acquired Coppersteel Bimetalicos in 1995. Formerly owned by Copperweld Inc., Coppersteel makes bimetallic conductors and telephone drop wire, located in Campinas, SP and employing 260 workers. The INTELLI Group is not only about work, however. Envisaging a better integration between the INTELLI Group members and the communities where they are located, Vincenzo creates the Intelli Sports Association, a professional indoor soccer team that plays major Brazilian and foreign leagues.

The Intelli Sports Association also sponsors other sports. Vincenzo’s corporate and socio-cultural initiatives have resulted in many personal awards in the areas where the Intelli Group is active. We could mention “Enterpreneur of the Year” both in Orlandia and in Ribeirão Preto and “Honorary Citizen” conceeded by the Orlandia House of Representatives. He also held periods as President of Orlandia’s Industrial and Commercial Association, President of the local Rotary chapter and member of the Italo-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the São Paulo State, Ribeirão Preto chapter.
Vincenzo was honored to be appointed Vice-Consul General of Italy in Ribeirão Preto in April 2000 which has allowed him to give proper attention to all Italians and their descendents in several towns and to promote important cultural and professional exchanges between the peoples of the two countries.
